Powerhouse Foyer
The Powerhouse Foyer is a 52 bed supported housing project for young people who are making the transition into living by themselves. These young people will be leaving a variety of backgrounds and situations which mean that the support of the onsite staff will improve their options in the future.
The inclusion of a Drop In Study Centre which is open to the public, plus a variety of self directed and taught courses makes for a dynamic setting in which to embark on the next stage of their life.
Team a go-go were appointed to deliver the interior design and furniture for the building. We worked with young people to deliver an interior appropriate to user group’s aspirations and culture. The project extended to wayfinding and branding, including artwork for bespoke tiles in kitchens and bathrooms and signage in public areas, ensuring that the culture and feel of the building was continuous across both living and work spaces.
It was this participative and inclusive approach to our design contract that won this project (and 3 other supported housing projects we completed for East Thames Housing), a number of awards in various National Housing Awards categories for 3 years running.
