| Client: Liverpool Community College
Description:
One of a number of Drop-n Study Centres in Liverpool run as partnerships within the community. This centre is based in a new-build project in Liverpool 8 and provides Basic Skills, ESOL and ICT training to the community as well as courses in Film & Video, Radio Production and Graphic Design to College Students.
Our Challenge:
- To create a non-threatening environment which would encourage adult returners to enquire about training and education opportunities.
- To provide a rewarding environment for staff working at the frontline of community development.
- To work within an open-plan space to provide informal and formal training spaces alongside library resources.
Our Response:
- Utilising flexible furniture in the Drop-In spaces
- Consulting with staff about working methods, including analysing other teaching spaces currently in use
- Developing a symbol based, colour coded signage and navigation system to assist visitors with low numeracy and literacy skills or for whom English was a Second or Other Language
